This is the 2016 Year-end mixtape for the Purveyr Producer Project: ₱URVEYR ¥UNG BAWAL OPM MIX
Known to be a prominent producer in the local hip-hop scene, and formerly known as DJ SPNZ, Yung Bawal founded the hip-hop collective, Bawal Clan. He started DJing and producing music when he was a recording student in Los Angeles. After graduating, Yung Bawal came back to the Philippines and worked with hip-hop artists such as Loonie, Abra, Ron Henley, People’s Future, and more. His works and collaborations with these artists paved the way for his importance and influence in the local hip-hop movement.
Being a big part of the local music industry, Yung Bawal chose to dedicate his Purveyr Producer Project mixtape to OPM. When we invited him to be a part of the Purveyr Producer Project, he immediately proposed to do an all-Filipino mixtape to commemorate the growth and excitement that the movement experienced in 2016. It features tracks from mostly local hip-hop artists with a few ones from RnB and ambient to complete the set.
This is the first time that a featured DJ / Producer did an all-Filipino mixtape, so this is definitely something to be very excited about. If you’re wondering how OPM is doing nowadays, let this mixtape make you realize that it is well and alive, stronger even.
