Capping off this session of Sound Fiesta is Manila-based producer, Lustbass, performing an improvised version of an unreleased track called GOD (Good Old Days). He kicks it off with a tune that reminds me of a sci-fi film, and transitions into something dramatic as he starts playing the keys – putting together the two creates a surprisingly harmonious flow. As the first tune fades, the sound of hi-hats and cymbals enter for a more complete sound. And if that wasn’t enough, he toys with the keys even more then picks up his bass guitar to add a few more layers.

This just goes to show how versatile a musician Lustbass is – dabbling in different elements to create a solid sound. His chill and smooth vibe is reflected in the music he makes, soul jazz instrumental, reminiscent of the good old days. “I have 2 older brothers, so growing up I would listen to all the cassettes they collected. Eventually when I could afford to, I started my own collection,” he recalls, and that’s how he got into music.

Sound Fiesta is supported by Johnnie Walker, and in collaboration with Playhouse Studio for video production and Cosmic Sonic Arts for audio management.
