It’s PURVEYR Post‘s first time to venture into a studio other than its own. If a pop-up can bring itself to occupy any location traveled to, KAPWA Studio is a stationary room that transports the curious into alternate spaces with a simple switch of the modular. And it’s happening from August 9 to 25.
It’s not exactly a store, nor strictly a barbershop. It’s what you want it to be when you need it to be – perhaps a workshop, a dance studio – a compact space turned blank canvas for the possibilities it welcomes. It’s a community introducing itself thru various forms.
KAPWA is a Filipino word meant to bring us together; it alludes to our common identity and being with others. PURVEYR Post is home to local brands, providing us area to explore products originating from our own.
Both platforms speak the same language, beginning the conversation with shared space: PURVEYR Post is paying KAPWA Studio a visit, hoping to introduce itself to Poblacion’s culturally diverse pool of city slickers. It’s a 17-day residency featuring brands like Sack It, Revere, Daily Grind, Buzzhype, Nomadic Tendencies, Deadways, Royalty, Lawud, Bastard, Ninong, and more.
At a time when everything can be accessed at the click of convenience, physical spaces bear the challenge of cultivating meaningful experience. A store extends itself beyond the blatant grounds of commerce when it gives us a good excuse to get out of the house; usually, a good story.
This Quickstrike Pop-Up runs from August 9 to 25. KAPWA Studio is located at P. Burgos St. Poblacion, Makati City.
