Mozaic Living, a homegrown lifestyle brand that offers bespoke and handcrafted furniture, has rebranded itself to something that hits home. Six years down the line, it is now named after a Spanish word that means craftsmanship, an ode to their passion and purpose — Artesania.
This brand that designs and manufactures custom furniture has been championing what Filipinos actually are — skillful, dedicated and artistic. They have been in relentless pursuit of sustainable and local craftsmanship that also supports the livelihood of the carpenters, craftsmen, and artisans.
Moving away from their homeware store in Mandaluyong and opening a new and larger interactive showroom along Arnaiz Avenue Makati, Artesania carefully filled the area with artisanal furniture and local interior fittings, like a silhouette perfectly displayed in every corner. Its walls serve as a gallery for featured visual artists. Its minimalist yet contemporary flair has abundant natural light and subtle rustic hints of nautical ornaments, steel accents and mahogany and gemolina wood, making you feel like you’re away from the bustling repercussions of the metropolitan.
It houses ceramics by Mia Casal, wood furnishings by Grit and Bevel, marble by Marmol Stonework, abaca rugs and carpets by Weave Manila, paper sculptures by Colony 67, indoor plants by Happy Plant, local prints from Grid Magazine and PURVEYR, and handmade soy candles by Saan Saan. They also offer lifestyle pieces from risograph prints to hand-woven products. The brand releases collection bi-annually to showcase their skills in design, to highlight endemic materials and to work towards sustaining the furniture industry.
“We want you to be able to sit on a piece and imagine it in your space while you’re having a cup of coffee. We want the showroom to give you a full experience–feeling, touching, seeing and tasting what a Filipino home is like,” quips Francine Gacrama, one of the partners of Artesania together with her sister Francesca Gacrama-Herring. Brought by their love for design and coffee, they wanted Artesania to be a platform for creators and craftsmen to be recognized, and their factory to be a workshop to pass on the trade.
Fostered under the same roof is their café and restaurant called Caffeined by Artesania. It is helmed by Le Cordon Blue Sydney-alum, Arvin Gacrama, elevating comfort food that will delight your senses. The expanded menu is all sourced and prepared from local fresh produce. Now a fully-equipped kitchen with dark wood, subway tiles, industrial bulbs and elegant modern fixture, Caffeined encourages the clamoring guests outside to lounge cozily on their pieces and feel inspired while sipping their curated blend. This coffee shop situated in the middle of the store serves as an escape from the ruffling noise outside. It is evident that there are many great cafés around the city but not all look and make you feel like you are home.

More than just a furniture store, lifestyle showroom, restaurant and café, they also advocate a “plant one seedling of Philippine native trees for every two Artesania pieces of furniture” initiative with Haribon Foundation.
Artesania is located at 2F 910 Arnaiz Avenue, Makati, Philippines and is open from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 9pm and Sunday, 10am to 7pm. You may follow them on Instagram to know more.
