‘Gas Light’ starts off slow—with mellow beats by crwn and gentle sax accompaniment initially filling its intro. Then you hear August Wahh complementing the beats with her atmospheric voice, with style bearing so much semblance to nu-soul and jazz, but with electronic, RNB, and hiphop being the main elements of the entire song still.

This ode to soul and jazz can be attributed to her background from Chocolate Grass. But her solo project as August Wahh is meant to be a leap away from the usual—this is her way in to the world of hiphop and RNB. As the song goes along, you can listen to her rapping, something that she has always liked to do.

‘Gas Light’ takes the best elements from August Wahh’s music repertoire. Her exposure to jazz and soul complements the hiphop and RNB style that she has established for her solo project.
