For the third episode of Sound Fiesta Season 2 we invited the young artist, Mikee Misalucha, to perform her single “I Got You”. The first thing you might have noticed is her name if you knew something about the local music industry. She’s related to the seasoned and widely popular singer, Lani Misalucha. While she brings the same musical flare, Mikee chooses to pursue a different direction with her music. With her track, “I Got You”, she showcases her inspirations from different genres like RnB, pop, and more.

And to get to know more about Mikee, we did a quick interview with her that you can read below.

Can you give us a short background about yourself?

I am a singer-songwriter based in Manila. Through music, I get to be myself and be able to connect with people. You can listen to my debut EP “Highs and Lows” on Spotify and iTunes.

How and when did you start pursuing music?

Ever since my childhood, music was already part of me. I just loved it. I knew that I was gonna go far with it. I started singing when I was 5, then I started to write songs in middle school, performed on different stages in high school, and took music production in college. Now, here I am making more music and sharing it to the world.

How would you describe your music?

It’s REAL and it’s ME. My music is me, my truth, and my life. Through it I get to share a glimpse of who I am with the people who could relate to it. I’m happy that I get to connect with them through this. Sound wise it’s a mix of everything with a touch of Mikee Misalucha, I guess. Right now I’m still exploring with different producers but the vibe of my songs really depends on how I feel and how I hear it come to life. I don’t really think about the genre. Because whatever genre or style you do, what really matters is that your music is YOU.

What would you want your listeners to feel with your music?

That they’re not alone. That they can feel whatever they want to feel. That it’s okay to feel bad about things, to be sad, to cry and it’s okay not to be positive all the time. And to always remember that faith, hope and love exists.

Who are your music inspirations?

There are a lot! But some of them are Julia Michaels, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Ms. Lauren Hill, Ella Mai, H.E.R and many many more.

What’s next? Any new projects we should expect?

I have new music coming out in a couple of months and it’s something really different. I don’t think people would expect that kind of music coming from me, which is really nerve-racking and exciting at the same time. But I guess all I can say that is it’s another side of Mikee Misalucha. A better one maybe.
