Last Friday, we attended the kick off event for San Miguel Super Dry‘s latest party series entitled “Discovery.” As a successor to the “TILT; On Tap, On Tour” series, Discovery aims to introduce the brand’s latest partnerships with distinctive bars around the metro. Good company coupled with San Miguel‘s premium beers (Cerveza Negra and San Miguel Premium All-Malt) ties together this string of activations featuring the best new venues and programming by up and coming music collectives.
The inaugural night was held at Futur:st in Poblacion, the younger sibling of Cubao’s iconic music venue – Today x Future. A year since it opened, Futur:st has built a strong reputation of being the cool kid in the neighborhood for hosting independent art exhibits, diverse music programming, and being home to some of Manila’s best electronic DJs. The venues’ eccentric decor and raw feel provided the perfect backdrop for the night.
transit records, an independent electronic music collective, also comes into frame as the partner for the launch. Its resident DJs, who have been making their rounds in Manila’s circuit of venues, took over the sound system with their tasteful selections. Duality and Larry Spicer opened with a back to back set filled with bumping deep house and trance-leaning techno. UNKNWN resident DJ, Tomas, who wove together rare grooves, disco classics, and dance music bangers, occupied the second set. Local Sun rounded out the night with his signature mix of soulful electro and world music obscurities.
The “Discovery: A Party Series with San Miguel Super Dry” continues for the rest of November. You can catch the next one at Kondwi and Bang Bang on November 30. We hope to catch you guys there!
