Foot Locker and adidas brought the culture to UP Town Center for Home Grown, a one-day celebration of hip-hop, dance, and community, all in honor of the iconic adidas Superstar. The event was a full-circle tribute to the local creative scene, blending music, movement, and art under one roof.

Hosted by Tiger and Reflex, with emcees Nathan J and Mighty Dash holding it down on the mic, the day was alive and moving from start to finish. DJ Flavamatikz of Q-York kicked things off, setting the tone for what would be an electrifying lineup of battles and performances. DJ Blake kept the momentum going, spinning for the 1v1 and 3v3 dance battles, while DJ Medmessiah and DJ Wizard took over for the intense 7 to Smoke showdown.

The battles did not disappoint. With heavy-hitting judges Oshady, CrazyBeans, LemaBee, and Prince for the 1v1 and 3v3 categories, dancers of all kinds brought their best to the floor. In the 1v1 All Styles, Jigoro emerged as the champion after a heated final against Baddone. The 3v3 Crew Battle saw Team Genesis rise to the top, outdancing J-Hop Fam in a close finish.

The energy only climbed higher during the 7 to Smoke battle. With judges Killafour, Haslah, and Dudut watching closely, it was Bboy Swirl who eventually claimed the win. Finalists Bboy Allen and Bboy DK each earned six points, showcasing just how stacked the lineup was.

Aside from the dance battles, there were live performances by Microphone Mechanics, Adhika, and VFam, while a powerful graffiti installation by Dee Jae Paeste reminded everyone that hip-hop is as visual as it is sonic.

Beyond being a one-day event, the Home Grown Dance Battle was an authentic celebration of hip-hop, culture, and community. Everything was rooted in movement, self-expression, and showing love to where it all started. The adidas Superstar goes beyond what it means to be a shoe. It’s part of a culture bigger than footwear and style, and this coming together was all about honoring that.
